Joyce Swain has been writing since the age of ten. She is the mother of two and grandmother of one. Her career in education and social work spans more than forty years. She writes across genres. Humorous works have appeared on the e-zine, Laughter Loaf. Her short stories contributions are part of Short Short Stories (Book Craft in Montclair, 2004) and Attitude with Gratitude (Book Craft in Montclair, 2006, 2007). Joyce was privileged to have participated in two Cave Canem workshops.
A native of Newark, New Jersey, she enjoys writing and continues sharing her knowledge and expertise in various adjunct positions. Her work as an educator and licensed clinical social worker has afforded an opportunity to gain from experiences of others and include essences of their lives, loves and pain in her writing. She has been a member of the Montclair Write Group for the past ten years and plans to self-publish her first novel, Once Removed, in the next two months.
