EXERCISE INSTRUCTOR – Twenties; so optimistic, she works out through an end-of-the-world earthquake.
TOURIST #1 – Any age.
TOURIST #2 – Any age.
JANEY – Thirteen to fifteen or so; trying to keep the family propped, like her mom.
MOM – Forties; an earnest housewife, on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
JOEY – Ten to twelve; overly cheerful like his mom.
HISPANIC GIRL – Twelve or thirteen.
HISPANIC BOY – Fifteen or so.
HISPANIC MAN #1 – Twenties.
HISPANIC MAN #2 – Forties.
OTHER HISPANICS – Various.
VOICE OF CACTUS – Can be determined by production; the cactus and the voice are a Lourdes-like vision for the modern pilgrim.
WHITE MAN – Forties.
BRAD – Twenties.
WRITER – Thirties.
COP/MIKE – Same character as man in workshop.
GROUP MEMBERS #1-5 – Various.
FEDERAL EXPRESS GUY – Twenties to forties.
DAD – Forties; a defeated yet still earnest and occasionally cheerful citizen who is wildly in love with his wife. Dad, along with his wife and children, are a middle-class “Grapes of Wrath” family, like the Joads, doing the best they can in dire circumstances which have forced them to the road.
ANCHORMAN/SPORTSCASTER – The archetype.
SURFER – A Noah’s Ark figure with an ageless quality but really around forty or fifty.
