C.B. Heinemann began his musical career at the age of twelve, when he began playing with local jazz and rock bands. Later, inspired by traditional Irish groups like DeDannan, he played with master musicians and became one of America’s leading Celtic bouzouki players, performing, recording and touring throughout the United States and Europe. His Celtic rock band, Dogs Among the Bushes, was the first American Celtic group to tour in the former East Germany and Czechoslovakia after the fall of communism. He spent two years as a street performer in Europe, and those experiences inspired a literary novel, The Last Buskers of Summer.
C.B. has written short stories for Antietam Review, Storyteller, Kaleidoskop, and Fate. He has also written for The Washington Post, Boston Globe, Philadelphia Inquirer, Cool Traveler, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Car & Travel, Big World Travel, and Travel Reporter, and is a contributing writer for the Rough Guides Travel Series.
